Axon
- Also known as the nerve fiber
- Sends out the neural signal
- The bigger the axon, the quicker it transmits information
- It extends from the cell body, which is in the beginning of the neuron, to the terminal endings, which are located in the end of the neuron
- When an axon is injured, damage takes place over a more widespread area than in a single area
- When the injury is severe, the one of the results can be a coma. When the injury is less severe, the result may be just a concussion
