Hypothalamus
- Directs many hormonal and behavioral rhythms, multipart patterns of neuron-endocrine outputs, and essential behaviors
- Must respond to many different signals at once, some of which are generated externally, on the out side, and some internally, on the inside
- Is located below the thalamus, just above the brainstem
- If the hypothalamus is damaged or injured in any way, it will affect the normal body functions
- Injury to this part of the brain can cause failure to control your metabolic base temperature
