Temporal Lobe
- Helps us hear and see
- The upper and central portion of the temporal lobe receive auditory feedback from the thalamus
- The lower part of the temporal lobe does visual processing for the object
- Located below the lateral fissure
- Difficulty in recognizing faces and understanding spoken words are some of the things that will happen if this lobe gets injured
- Let’s just say you are going for a walk around your neighborhood. While turning, you see a small animal. It feels furry and you hear an angry snarl. All this information goes to your brain separately, but comes out as one note, “an angry cat!” It takes time for the brain to notice that you better run away, until it alerts the body and tells it to run
